The Federal government is giving away ~$60B in R&D funding to private businesses, every year. ~$3B of that funding is given away as SBIR/STTR as small business grants. Many innovative companies are built with grant funding (e.g. Biogen, iRobot, Symantec, 23andMe).
However, most small businesses, either:
- Have not heard of these opportunities
- They don't how to get started
- They get crushed by the paperwork
We have struggled through this process, learned how to navigate it, and built a social impact business with this small business grant.
Our company develops assistive technology for the disabled. When we tried fundraising, many investors shut us off because they didn't believe the disabled market is worth investing in.
Thanks to the SBIR funding from NSF, we have managed to develop and release products that are now being used by more than 5,000 disabled individuals around the world every month.
Now, we want to help others develop their innovative technologies and build sustainable businesses.
This website is a way for us to start helping small businesses who are interested in getting R&D grants, small business administration grants, or other small business entrepreneur grants. We hope that this first step will start a learning process for us and help us identify what else people might be interested in.
